When you come to the province of Alicante for the first time you will notice that there are tourists here throughout the year. Why is this? Many people say it is because of the sunshine which is a feature almost throughout the year. Other people say that it is the friendly welcome that the Spaniards will give you or the excellent food that you can get here in almost any restaurant. It is actually a combination of all these things and more. For instance, one of the best places to stay here for your holidays is the small seaside town of Calpe. Calpe hotels make a great base camp while you are touring the northern towns and cities of the province of Alicante.

Exploring Three Wonderful Places in Alicante While Taking Advantage of Calpe Hotels

Once your Alicante flight has landed, it is only a short distance by car to get to the town of Calpe. The rates of hotels in this town are very reasonable when you make comparisons to other European cities. You will find excellent services provided by many of the cheaper hotels and guesthouses, the two and three star establishments. These establishments will give you excellent service and make your stay in the town very enjoyable. I want to look at three different places to you to visit while you were here. First we'll take a look at Altea, then Benidorm, and finally Calpe itself.

Altea

The seaside town of Altea is located to the south of Calpe and to the north of Benidorm on the Costa Blanca. The first thing that you should do when you visit this wonderful seaside town is to take a stroll along the beach. This will always provide you with a refreshing break after any drive in the Spanish sun. Altea is characterized by its winding cobbled streets which are lined with whitewashed houses. Around every corner you will find a surprise including one of the main attractions of the town which is a blue domed church of the Virgen del Consuelo. Also, do your best to make it up to the top of the town where you will come across a beautiful open square. This is where you will find a lot of the Spaniards going about their daily lives. You will also find one of the most spectacular views over Altea Bay and the town itself.

Benidorm

The city of Benidorm is located to the north of Alicante airport and to the south of Calpe. It is a place which is visited throughout the year by many people and indeed there is a large expatriate community who have relocated here from northern Europe. These expats are generally retired folks who desire to spend a part of their retirement in the sunshine. But the first thing that you will notice when you arrive in Benidorm is the skyline. Many of the Hotel is that are built along the beaches here have been constructed as skyscrapers and can be seen from a long distance. This skyline is one of the things that are referred to when people talk about the "Manhattan of Spain". The name also sticks because of the wonderful nightlife which during the peak season can last from dusk till dawn and gives Benidorm the reputation of the city that never sleeps. If you are coming here with your family do not be put off by this. There is also a great family atmosphere here. The beautiful sandy beaches offer something for everyone from the sunbathers to the water sports enthusiast. There is also great family entertainment to be had here at one of the several theme parks that are located within easy distance including the famous Terra Mitica.

Calpe

Of the three cities, Calpe is the least populated and least developed ... but it is the most tranquil. This is the reason why a traveler visiting these three cities would decide to stay in Calpe - for rest after long hours of gallivanting in the holiday get-aways in Costa Blanca. If you should book a hotel in one of the Calpe hotels, you have to choose one that overlooks the landmark of Calpe - the Penon de Ifach. Visiting the two churches - Iglesia Antigua and the church of Nuestra Senora de Nieve is a must. There are also archeological exhibits that you can see in Calpe - something amiss in Benidorm. And Calpe will never be lacking in terms of its beaches - the Cantal Roig and the Arenal beaches have fine sands.

These three cities in Alicante are really worth a visit. Each one has something different to offer; each one has a definite landmark. All have nice hotels and activities but if you are looking for that tranquility at the end of the day then Calpe hotels are for you.
