Transformers 2 Review...What Every Transformers Movie Fan Should Know...

By jackburton

There are only one or two spoilers in this hub on the movie Transformers 2, nothing to really get too worked up about, if you don’t want to know…close your eyes…only joking. This movie, Transformers 2 seemed like a great movie to see, I loved the first movie, Transformers, so I had great expectations for the sequel. Shall we venture into the world of Transformers 2...cool. With the traditional Bay film you get an exhilarating opening scene, loads of great action and a fire me away into the plot. Almost twenty minutes into the movie, Transformers 2 and nothing much has happened yet. Ok, so the whole thing with the Decepticon hunting unit was great, but when we got a look at NEST, named so for Transformers 2, was a bit of a let down. Anyway, a couple of people die who we really don't know anything about, and we are ready to move on.

Transformers 2 then lets us get familiar with the old crew of Sam and Mikela, bit of smooching, uncalled for camera angles...looking up the skirt of poor Mikela, the audience were hooting and hollerin'...now the action of Transformers 2 finally gets going.

Here comes some of the things that pissed me off about this movie...the robot in disguise Decepticon chick was so obvious it was unreal, she was that annoying and blatantly evil, I was delighted when she was mowed down so convincingly by Mikela...go girl.

The big problem with Transformers 2 for me was the character development, THERE WAS NONE!  It sucked big time... without giving away any more about this movie than I have already done, there are parts in the movie when even the robots actions are too robotic.

I left the Transformers 2 feeling a little disappointed.   But then again, I almost always leave sequels feeling a little bit cheated.  Science fiction is my thing, I love anything to do with robots, flying saucers, monsters from space, armageddon, end of the world scenarios, everything future.  And I always build myself up for a movie like this, seen the first...excellent...wait for the second and disappointed.  Oh well...I never listen to critics anyway.  Transformers 2 is what it is, a sequel to Transformers, its good for that alone.  Go see it.

Transformers 2

Micheal Bay and Christopher Nolan

My point all throughout this article is that it's a movie to be seen if you are a fan of special effects, which I am. But because I am a bit older in the tooth, I have seen a few movies in my time, actually I'd seen a hell of a lot of movies in my time, and it always disappoints me when a director of such high caliber always seems to scrimp on the script in favor of special effects. Then again, I don't think Michael Bay was aiming Transformers 2 at the over 50s market. But I really think he should have found someone with a bit more intelligence to inject some reality into the script. Just because the film is packed with action and special effects, and the subject of the film is fantasy or science fiction, doesn't mean to say that it has to be laughable. Michael Bay should go to the Christopher Nolan school of making movies.... now there is a movie maker who knows how to tell a good story.  I thought the first movie was fantastic and digital domain outshone themselves again with the special effects and Bay's movies in general hit a sweet spot in me. But I think this film might be a target for the golden raspberry award.

Finally camron, someone gets my point. Guys, I enjoyed the movie, went in with expectations...as usual with a sequel...was a bit disappointed... that's just me...if you don't like what I write...tough shit...!

i'm so shocked by the reviewers said the movie was so dependent on cgi. for god sake,of course it is,it's a freaking robot movie. i dont know why they are beign oblivious but i think the movie is the best movie yet this year.. y'all should watch it..

I hate when the writers don't spend any time on character development. Some of the pieces of junk that come out remind me of the fast food industry, shove it down your throat without even stopping to consider the taste. Thanks for the review jack, I think I may give this one a miss...

I don't even think this person watched the movie. I thought the movie was great, even better than the first one. The action scenes were spectacular, and I loved the movie. Don't listen to critics.

I dont think that anyone is actually reading or understanding JackBurton's review. Hes saying go see the damn movie, but it fell short for him. God forbid someone have an opinion that strays from the norm. I havent seen it yet but im expecting a good amount of action and explosions just like a summer release should have!

The mom and the twin autobots were getting on my nerves, annoying as hell and a lot of the humor felt a bit forced IMO. To the reviewer, your not the only one...I was disappointed as well.

For me, the movie was very good, but was a bit unbalanced in my opinion, as you see in the last battle

Hey Jack Burton, u hit it right on the head. What u wrote was perfect. These yahoos talking about..."Oh it was so great it blew my mind", have no profound sense of what a good movie entails. They just road the success of the first one and threw a buncha crap together to make a sequel. It indeed had some good action and cgi but it also had way too many corny scenes and one liners (i.e. Sam's mother...WOW! Horrible writing). Overall a disappointing sequel. And I am a big Michael Bay fan. He should of taken notes from Christopher Nolan and The Dark Knight on how to make a good action sequel.

I am a big Transformers fan, grew up watching the cartoons so initially I couldn't wait for this sequel to come out. I do reviews for a living and it's hard to review something objectively when your attached in some way. I think that JB really has some good points... everyone is entitled to their own opinions aren't they. On another note, I haven't gone to see this movie yet, it's like a part of me wants to, and another part of me is just telling me to wait and buy it when it comes out.

well, all i know is that this guy is an idiot and the movie was really great.damn, critics just don't like movies or something. screw them all!!

transformers 2 was GREEEAAAT!!(:

JH 2 years ago

To each it's own! Transformers 2 was dissapointing! I can't believe for those who did grow up watching the cartoon to still say this movie was great! As for special effects I give it a A! I give it a D for story. One member mentioned forced hummor? Bingo! Also I hate when they remake a charater that was great stupid looking! I would ruin it for those you have not seen the movie for them to understand my point. This movie was geared towards the newer generation that have not grew up watching the Transformer us old school fans did. :( I would not say it was crap but I grade this movie all around a C-!

radraff 2 years ago

whens the 3rd movie??

Andyman 2 years ago

I couldnt WAIT to leave the theatre. It was a bunch of shitty acting, in a world full of Maxim models with an Advance Auto Parts mosh pit at the end. Michael Bay couldn't direct his way out of a wet paper bag. And I was actually a kid when the original Transformers came out.

Who is this guy????? next time open your eyes and ears and watch the movie instead of desperatly wasting almost 2 hours of your life trying to come up with some dumb critic. YOU SUCK. this movie had everything in it. there was a story, some comedy, it was romantic..romantic I tellz u and plenty of action what more do you facking critics want? fist of all you are spoiling it for everyone else and no body needs you to tell them what they should like. why am i even wasting my time with you i should be watching the mivie for the eleventh time.

JKisaragi 2 years ago

I totally agree with the writer. The movie left me not wanting for more unlike the first one did. There were a few scenes that when edited out, wouldn't even affect the story (like the one with Sam's mom) and the SPOILER ALERT Rise of Megatron, Death of Optimus, Sam, and the Fallen were all too..."blah". Can't even describe it. It's like you watched for the whole two hours only to see the enemy fall just like that. Ugh.

I still wonder though if it would make any difference if I haven't seen the first one. I do agree though that Mikaela's hotter than before. *drools*

Hey, dont be dissing my man Bay like that. Lol. Funny hub. I keep saying this, Bay's best film ever remains Bad Boys. He's yet to beat that. Nolan is brilliant as well. But they're not to be compared. Bay is the summer blockbuster blow-them all away movie maker, while Nolan is for the Cinematography buff - he's artistic as hell. They both work.

I saw this movie last month. I was disappointed. This movie was so god awful and Michael Bay phoned in this mess. Megan Fox has become the next Jessica Alba, a woman who wants to be crappy. This movie seemed to me striving to be shit! jackburton, you sir hit the nail on the head. This movie was horrible. Megan Fox was cast in this movie to be nothing nothing more than eyecandy. I wasn't fooled by this movie. My friend Mr. RKO was drooling at the screen when he saw Megan Fox. This movie had nothing of note. Nothing. This film accomplished absolutly jack-shit! If Chris Nolan was the screenwriter of this film, he would've given more devlopment to the characters. When I watch a movie like say, Seven Samurai I watch to see if there's any character devlopment and in this mess of a movie there wasn't any! I'll give this film a 2.5/10.

I thought the movie was fine. BUT, there was no charactor development. Sure there was the Constructicons and Devastator.. but who the hell was the Devastor tank in the first movie? His little brother or something? I thought that the charactors needed to stop sounding like monotonous , flat, jive-style voices and to start having unique voices like that of Starscream.. instead of sounding all .. rah rah rah" Starscream's voice in the original series stood out man!!! It wol dof nice to introduce the Constructicons the way the Autobots were introduced in the first movie. At least they were given names. Overall, I wouldnt want to see it again.

This movie was far too long (among the billion and one other complaints I have about it). In my entire life, this is one of a very small handful of films where I was looking at my watch a LOT...it gets boring and tedious around the 2-hours mark and there's still like 40 minutes left!
