Natural detox is basically any way of dealing with detox through natural methods. To me natural detox involves eating natural foods, natural detox involves natural nutrition. Nutrition is very important. It is the thing that keeps us all healthy, and fit, alive and kicking...Natural detox is a way of mitigating the consequences of our surroundings, our diet, and our lives.

It's not an ideal world that we live in. We are under a constant bombardment from toxins everywhere we go. There are toxic chemicals in the air we breathe. The emissions from motor vehicles are one of the biggest pollutants and fill our air with toxins. Some studies are actually linking diesel emissions with a higher risk of cancer.

I think there is a great push nowadays to try and reduce the amount of toxins being pumped out of the exhaust pipes of our vehicles, but it will take a long time for our environment or indeed any of us to begin feeling the effects. Nevertheless, it is heartening to know that this is a fixable problem, using natural detox.  And the question we must ask ourselves is how effective will any natural detox be against the toxins that enter our bodies from environmental pollution.


There are also an abundance of toxins in our food. We are at the top of the food chain. So whatever we put on to a dinner plates has already gone through the multiple steps and pathways of toxin collection. There is the fertilisers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides that have been used to promote the faster growth of our vegetables and fruits etc. Also any meat we eat has been reared in an environment which has been set up to maximize meat production, with as minimal standards as possible to keep the animals alive, and in the best case scenarios, giving the animal a small bit of comfort or a freedom. So when we eat meat we are also eating any of the antibiotics that the animal has been given and any chemicals or other nastiness that has been added to their food. Again I don't know how much of an impact natural detox would have against these kind of toxic invasions.

Natural detox

What does natural detox mean? Obviously it means detoxing naturally, which if you take this to the ultimate degree would mean leaving your liver and kidneys to do their jobs. Okay, so that means doing nothing! Again, doing nothing is not an option for us. It is not good enough that we sit back and let the environment take its toll on us, and then when things start to go wrong we pay a visit to the doctor and hope that he can write us a little prescription that will cure us. We must be proactive. We have to get off our arses and do something for ourselves to prevent disease from happening in the first place. This is prevention for health.

So natural detox to me is always going to start with what you eat, your nutrition, your diet. That means eating fresh whole foods. It's the only way to stay disease free. It's the only way for you to be able to maintain a healthy weight. It's the only way for you to be able to age gracefully. It's the only way for you to be able to retain lots of energy. Whole foods are all unprocessed, they come as nature intended in their own packaging without any human interference except for picking them or digging them up etc. Whole foods are also not full of sugar, cholesterol bulging fats, blood pressure inducing salt, or processed chemicals.

In an ideal world, we would follow natural detox diet throughout our lives, never eating anything that went against the principles of good nutrition. But there are always exceptions to the rule. We live a life that is full of stress and pressure. Many of us travel a lot, eat out a lot, and don’t have the advantages of cooking for ourselves in our homes, always eating on the go. The whole point is to do as much as you possibly can. There are going to be times when you can't find any whole foods and you are going to have to make do with what is available. But these should be the exceptions and not something that is done every day.

Another element of a natural detox life is to drink as much fresh clean water as you can. Why? Because it drinking fresh, clean water is good for you. For a start, if you are drinking water you will not be drinking any of those high calorie drinks that are packed with sugars, so it's going to help you to maintain a healthy weight. It also lowers the risk of a heart attack. You will feel more energetic. Water helps you flush out any toxins and waste from your system. It helps you maintain healthy skin. It helps digests food. Good clean water is essential.

I agree 100% that drinking plenty of water is the natural way to detox, but with all of the processed and fatty foods that we take in, its a good idea to use a herbal detox every now and then. We tend to consume foods that are junk in nature and heavy on the stomach. Its a great benefit to clean out your system regularly by taking natural herbs that help detox and do not have side effects. Psyllium is one natural seed that helps in cleaning the digestive tract. If combined with Rhubarb, ginger, fennel and garlic it can deliver substantial results.Detoxing the body is necessary as this helps in absorption of minerals that the body requires.
