Hydrocodone Addiction Advice
77If you are addicted to hydrocodone than this hub might answer a few questions for you. If you are not addicted to hydrocodone and you just want some information as to what hydrocodone is and what the effects of hydrocodone addiction can be then I hope that I can answer some of your questions as well. Hydrocodone is mostly used in mild strength centrally acting analgesics and in some cough syrups. I know it's only a fairly neutral and it is used where coding in itself is a problem for the patient. I know without with most drugs of this caliber hydrocodone withdrawal symptoms can be fairly powerful on the whole. There are more and more people that have become addicted to this drug, it is becoming more common and the reason for this is because it is easy to get a hold of. It comes in various forms, tablet, capsules, and syrup forms. Of course the pure form is very hard to come by.
Hydrocodone is an opiate or narcotic and produces a state of euphoria in the person that is taking it so it is often used as a painkiller. As a matter of fact there are over 200 painkillers that contain hydrocodone. There are plenty of people who cannot use this drug.
Those people include anyone with asthma, anyone suffering from liver disease, if you have had a recent head injury or brain tumor you cannot use it. You will also be at risk if you have low blood pressure, or you suffer from stomach ulcers or intestinal disorders. Your doctor should also ask you if you drink more than three or four alcoholic beverages a day in which case you will not be prescribed hydrocodone. So what are the symptoms of hydrocodone addiction?
Hydrocodone Addiction
The symptoms of hydrocodone addiction are similar to the symptoms of other opiate addictions. These are only apparent after prolonged use. You will need to detox from any long-term hydrocodone use, once you have hydrocodone addiction. Withdrawal can be very uncomfortable. Withdrawal symptoms can begin as soon as six hours after the drug has stopped being taken. Normally these symptoms are not life-threatening, but the overall effects can be quite daunting, and depending on the level of addiction, can last for a week or two. Some of the more common hydrocodone withdrawal symptoms include diarrhea, running nose, sweating and fever, insomnia, irritability, and sometimes depression. These symptoms are virtually identical to most other drug and alcohol related detox is. Hydrocodone addiction might be mild in comparison but as I said it can depend on the physiology of the person, and the length of time, amount of hydrocodone that has been taken.
Can someone go through hydrocodone addiction at home? The first question that you must ask yourself is have you been to your doctor. This is the first thing that you must do in any drug detox. It is important that you go to your doctor and discuss exactly what you have been taking, and in most cases the doctor will want to know any subsidiary facts that you can give him about your hydrocodone addiction. Because your doctor will have detailed access to your medical history, he or she will be able to advise you correctly as to your next course of action. This may involve visiting a drug detox center for some professional help in your withdrawal.
Once you have managed to go through the withdrawal effects, and you no longer have hooked on the drug. You must then start to seek out some medical advice, or psychological advice, and about the reasons for you becoming addicted in the first place. If you have become addicted through taking prescription painkillers that were prescribed to you by your doctor, then although you may need some advice and help, you may not need to attend addiction counseling. But if you are taking hydrocodone, and have become addicted to hydrocodone through the illegal use of drugs, or as part of an ongoing drug addiction problem, then you will have to seek out some medical help to help you to deal with your addictions, and to deal with the parts of your life that are causing you to become involved with this type of thing.
So my first advice at the beginning is to visit your doctor, and confide in them about your problem. Then you can either visit a drug detox center or fight it out on your own
