If you own a dog and your dog is starting to exhibit some strange behavior such as scratching more than usual or the scratching just in one spot then your dog may be showing signs of dog allergy symptoms. Unfortunately, dogs can succumb to allergies just like we humans can. A lot of the time dog allergy symptoms are caused by the food that they are eating. But it could also be that your dog is allergic to something in the environment, or a biological organism or substance. Also, the dog allergy symptoms can show up in much the same way as they can in the human. You just have to watch out for these signs of dog allergy symptoms, and you must treat dog allergy symptoms as soon as you notice that they are there.

A dog has no way of pointing out its own dog allergy symptoms or problems. It relies on you to come up with a diagnosis yourself. All the dog knows is that it is itching a lot more than it used to, or that it's not feeling too well at the moment.

Dog allergy symptoms

Many of the causes of dog allergy symptoms can be traced back to the food that you are feeding your dog. Common dog allergy symptoms may go undetected for a long time. Your dog needs much the same vitamins and minerals that you do, to a degree. A lot of people treat their dogs like a garbage disposal unit, feeding them all the scraps that I left over from the table. This is fine in some instances, but you also have to feed your dog its own food which is rich in vitamins and minerals. Many people also think that it is okay to feed their dogs on high-fat diet. The amount of times I have seen people taking the skin off the chicken, or removing the fat layer from their sirloin steak (in order to decrease their own risk from obesity, heart attack, etc. don't you know!) only to throw it to the dog. Why would you do this? Do you not think your dog has a short enough life already without feeding them on the crap that you wouldn't eat? Listen up folks... if you don't want to eat it yourself don't give it to your dog!

So, if your mutt is showing signs of dog allergy symptoms to its food, then you must change the brand of dog food. The results are going to depend entirely on trial and error. Many veterinarians would say that a dog should stay away from chicken and grain products altogether. You can purchase specially designed dog foods that are aimed at curing dog allergy symptoms.

Other dog allergy symptoms that your dog will be showing are hair loss, dry skin, digestive problems... farting a bit too much or maybe vomiting. Dog allergy symptoms can also show up in the dog licking or chewing a certain spot excessively. Skin by can lead to more serious problems. If you have changed the brand of dog food that you have been using a couple times and there is still no change then you should take your dog to the veterinarian because there may be an underlying biological problem which needs to be dealt with. Usually it's just a question of getting a dose of antibiotics which will cure dog allergy symptoms.
