One of the best times to Alcohol Detox, is to alcohol detox after a party. There are usually times of the year, such as Christmas, birthdays, Thanksgiving, weddings, etc, when more alcohol than normal is consumed. You might have been to a stag party or a hen night where the everyone is to drinking as much alcohol as possible, a real binge drinking night. So where do you start?

Depending on your level of drinking you might want to visit an Alcohol Detox Center. You can do this as an outpatient or sign yourself in for a few days. There are many Alcohol Detox Centers to choose from. You can find them in the phone book, on the Internet, or through your doctor.

Before you begin with alcohol detox after a party you must obviously stop drinking. I know you might think that it's a great idea to have a "hair of the dog" bloody Mary the next morning to combat that ferocious hangover, but all you are doing is adding fuel to the fire. In order to detox properly you really have to stop smoking, drinking coffee, and taking any other stimulants, at least until you feel you have detoxed enough. Obviously, if you smoke, you should quit for good.
Rehydration

The first thing to do with any alcohol detox after a party is to drink plenty of water. Dehydration is a major concern after consuming too much alcohol, so getting as much water inside you as possible should be a major factor in any Alcohol Detox Treatment. This is going to help you to flush all the toxins out of your system. So for now, frequent visits to use the toilet are a good thing. You can also drink herbal teas. I always found that fennel and mint were great teas to calm the stomach. Also, you might try chamomile which can help you to relax.

Another reason for drinking plenty of water is for my next step, which is a visit to the steam or sauna room. This is going to release toxins through the pores in your skin, and it will make you feel much better. Also try some exercise. Go for nice relaxing walks, or cycles. Work up a bit of a sweat.

Your alcohol detox after party should also include vegetable and fruit juices. You can dilute the fruit juices if you wish. Also try not to eat too much animal fat. If you stick to eating fish or low-fat poultry you will avoid consuming too much bad cholesterol. Eat wholemeal products to fill up your stomach.

Sleep is a natural healer. Your body can fight off the effects of toxins and expel them more rapidly if can get as much rest in a possible.

So that's basically it. Of course, most of this stuff is just common sense. You should always drink plenty of water, and sticking to a nutritious diet is going to help you stay healthy throughout your life not just when you are following an Alcohol Detox Program.

It will normally take a few a couple of days to feel the benefits from taking a short-term Alcohol Detox. And just so you know, this page is not about Alcohol Detoxification if you are a long-term heavy drinker or alcoholic. If you fall under this category you should consult a physician. You will need more than a short-term fix. You may need to enrol yourself in one of the Alcohol Detox Programs in your area. Most people will only need a short term alcohol detox after party to sort themselves out.
